Development is your Change

Many people in this community do not have direct access to a health care facility because of distance and are unaware of the community based nurses available in all communities.  This project strives to educate members of the community on basic health care procedures, the access they have to community based nurses, as well as making the nurses aware of members of the community who test positive in the screening process, as to make home visits. Volunteer Interns will work directly with doctors and nurses during the health care screening looking for members of the community effected by HIV/Aids, Breast Cancer, Malaria, Typhoid fever, Hepatitis B, Dental Disorders, Skin and Sight Conditions.  These members will be registered for the Ghana Health Care Insurance Plan.   On the weekend Volunteer Interns will have the opportunity to have some fun and explore the beautiful scenery Ghana has to offer at Boti Falls in Eastern Region.

Can anyone volunteer?

Yes, anyone is welcomed to apply to Volunteer Intern.  We are looking for passionate individuals that are willing to learn and collaborate on projects that help communities in Ghana.  It is a well structured program where Volunteer Interns will be required to write a report by the end of the program.

Will I work with other volunteers?

Yes, all of our programs have 10-15 volunteers at one time.  Volunteer Interns will be placed into groups to do different tasks or work in different communities but will all stay in the same hostel facility.

Where will I be living?

All our volunteer interns are hosted in AFAWI hostel facility, which is located at Asofan with standard facilities to make your stay comfortable. It is about 10 minute walk from the office along a main road with small shops and restaurants.
AFAWI has welcomed volunteer interns from around the world for over seven years.
