Charlotte Young is a Doctoral student at Australian Catholic University in Melbourne, Australia. Her PhD research explores priority health concerns of members of the sub-Saharan African Australian community in Greater Melbourne that will inform appropriate community-based health interventions.
In 2012/13, Charlie worked with AFAWI on a variety of development and research projects. She completed her Honours research in this time, which sought to understand how social attitudes affect the delivery of sexual health education in Ga East, Accra. Over the past four years Charlie has continued to work on the Kids’ Fund, a project she established with the help of managing director Phillip and previous volunteer Oscar Laurie Wynne. The Kids’ Fund is a child sponsorship program with two beneficiaries who are financially supported through their education.
Charlotte is passionate about supporting Ghanaian communities to affect social change through capacity building and people-centred approaches to development.
