Volunteer Interns should read and understand the AFAWI’s Terms and Conditions before submitting an application. By submitting an online application, you certify you agree to AFAWI Terms and Conditions.
Volunteer Interns are responsible for arranging and paying for travel to Ghana. This includes passport, airfare, visas, and insurance. AFAWI is not responsible to ensure the Volunteer Intern has all necessary supporting documents, this is the sole responsibility of the Volunteer Intern to ensure documents are update and valid. Volunteer Interns are responsible for their transportation costs outside of the project allotted times.
AFAWI does not provide participates with insurance of any kind. Volunteer Interns are responsible to purchase insurance prior to departing to Ghana for the full length of their internship with AFAWI. The Volunteer Intern is solely responsible for the type and level of insurance they purchase.
Volunteer Interns acknowledge and accept the responsibility and risks that international travel and volunteer program includes. The Volunteer Intern fully and solely accepts these risks as inherent part of their planned travel.
Volunteer Interns assumes all liability and responsibility for any such risks, and thus AFAWI, include their management and staff, is not liable, to the maximum extent of the law, for any loss or harm the Volunteer Intern may suffer, including but not limited to:
- Personal injury;
- Emotional distress;
- Illness or disease;
- Damage to or loss of property;
- Natural disasters;
Volunteer Intern also agrees NOT to make any type of claim, financial or otherwise, against AFAWI, management or staff.
AFAWI reserves the right to remove any person from any program or activity if that person’s actions or behavior impede the operation of the program or infringe on the rights, welfare, and enjoyment of other participants. Anyone removed from a program will NOT be entitled to a refund or discount.
The Volunteer Intern agrees to indemnify AFAWI against any and all liability arising directly or indirectly from traveling, living, and/or performing services in Ghana. Furthermore, the participant agrees NOT to hold AFAWI liable for any actions or omissions of any of its partner organizations.
Rules & Safety Regulations
The Volunteer Intern agrees to abide by all rules and regulations outlined by AFAWI, its employees, project sites, and housing partners. The Volunteer Intern agrees to comply with AFAWI’s codes of conduct and safety waiver.
The Volunteer Intern agrees to abide by all local laws, as well as all rules outlined by AFAWI and its employees and partners, with respect to alcohol consumption.
Whereas AFAWI may provide basic information about local laws, AFAWI is NOT a legal expert and it is the participant’s sole responsibility to ensure they are in compliance with the law.
Use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate dismissal from the program with no refund.
Feedback & Photos
AFAWI reserves the right to use any feedback, comments, photos, and other images provided by the participant or captured by AFAWI.
Volunteer Intern agrees to comply with AFAWI code of conduct and waivers. AFAWI reserves the right to dismiss a volunteer from the program at any time without refund, in the event that these Terms and Conditions or code of conduct are breached.
AFAWI reserves the right to notify the emergency contact appointed by the volunteer in the event that the volunteer is dismissed from the program and in all other circumstances as solely deemed appropriate by AFAWI.
AFAWI’s website exists for the sole purpose of promoting AFAWI’s projects and services. This website is operated by AFAWI from Ghana. AFAWI makes no guarantee or implied warrant that the information and materials contained is error-free on the website. No liability is assumed for errors, omissions, or damages resulting from the use of the information contained herein. The information is provided on an “as is” basis.
AFAWI reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions or the services it offers from time to time.
AFAWI reserves the right to refuse acceptance of any application or participant.
To the full extent permissible at law, all representations, terms, warranties, guarantees, or conditions whether implied by statute, common law or custom of the trade or otherwise, including, but not limited to, implied warranties and guarantees, are excluded.
Notwithstanding anything else contained in any agreement, the liability of AFAWI to the volunteer shall not in aggregate exceed the amount of the registration fee paid by the volunteer.
Volunteer Interns certifies that all information provided to AFAWI relating to their personal background, qualifications, experience, medical history, and current state of health is accurate and truthful, and that no information relating to the aforementioned areas is withheld. AFAWI reserves the right to remove a volunteer intern from their program, without refund or compensation, if it becomes apparent that untruthful or inaccurate information is submitted in their application form or provided through communications with AFAWI staff, or if relevant information is withheld, or for any other reason by giving notice to the Volunteer Intern.
AFAWI assumes no liability or responsibility for any lack of performance or failure of its services or programs where that failure arises from any cause reasonably beyond AFAWI’s control.
These terms and conditions and AFAWI’s programs are governed by the applicable laws of Ghana.
